Palestinian Police Round Up Militants

PALESTINIAN police, pressed by Israel to crack down on Muslim militants, said yesterday they had rounded up about 150 Gazans since a suicide bomber killed three Israeli soldiers in Gaza on Friday.

Among the detainees was a brother of the Islamic Jihad leader, who had vowed retaliation for the killing of an Islamic Jihad activist in Gaza earlier this month.

Friday's bicycle bomber left a note saying he was avenging the death of Hani Abed, a Palestinian journalist-activist.
