Not all filmfests give prizes, but the World Film Festival bestowed a number of them. This year's winners were:
* Best film - "The Dark Side of the Heart," by Eliseo Subiela (Argentina/Canada).
* Special jury prize - "Sofie," by Liv Ullmann (Denmark).
* Best director - Miklos Jancso, for "The Blue Danube Waltz" (Hungary/France/US).
* Best actress - Pascale Bussieres, in "La Vie fantome" (Canada).
* Best actor - Richard Berry, in "Le Petit prince a dit" (France/Switzerland).
* Best screenplay - Christine Pascal, for "Le Petit prince a dit."
* Best cinematography - Tony Forsberg, for "Sunday's Children" (Sweden).
