SOFTWARE PIRACY COSTS FIRMS BILLIONS

The software industry in the United States was denied revenues of $4.46 billion in 1990 due to software piracy in western Europe, the Software Publishers Association and the Business Software Alliance say.

The loss in 1990 is up from $3.38 billion in 1989 and $2.81 billion in 1988.
