THE ADDAMS FAMILYExactly what you'd expect, but on the wide screen this time. Raul Julia and Anjelica Huston are great fun as the heads of the amusingly sinister household, and Christopher Lloyd is in manic form as the long-lost Fester, whose reappearance sparks a family feud. But is it really Fester, or a greedy imposter? Barry Sonnenfeld directed, providing more funny-spooky atmosphere than outright laughs. (Rated PG-13) AT PLAY IN THE FIELDS OF THE LORD In the Amazon rain forest, US missionaries work vainly to impress their beliefs on native people. They are opposed by a North American Indian who has renounced civilization and joined a Brazilian tribe. For a production that takes pride in authenticity, there's a lot of artifice, including a heavily made-up Tom Berenger playing the Indian protagonist. The story is vigorously acted, dazzlingly filmed, and intelligently written, though, raising provocative issues without suggesting easy answers. Hector Bab enco directed, taking some liberties with Peter Matthiessen's novel. (Rated R)

HEARTS OF DARKNESS: A FILMMAKER'S APOCALYPSE - A sophisticated "making of" documentary on Francis Ford Coppola's epic "Apocalypse Now," revealing much if not everything that went on behind the scenes. Fascinating for anyone interested in the controversial Vietnam-war film. Directed by Fax Bahr and George Hickenlooper. (Not rated)
