NEW PLASTIC TABS DEVELOPED FOR DRINK CANS

Currently, the plastic rings used to hold beverage six-packs together pose a threat to wildlife. To help prevent animal entanglement, ITW Hi-Cone has developed Tear-Tabs, plastic rings that break open as the consumer removes beverage cans. The tabs also become brittle and fall apart in sunlight, according to the packaging firm in Itasca, Ill. Tear-Tabs are recyclable and nontoxic.
