WORLD BANK SPENT $1.6 BILLION ON ENVIRONMENT

The World Bank spent $1.6 billion for projects focused on environmental protection in fiscal 1991, according to a new report by the multilateral institution. That's up from $404 million the year before. About 4 out of every 10 bank projects in the same period had significant environmental components.
