RISING US COAL EXPORTS

Coal exports normally account for about 10 percent of US production, and 1990 was no exception. Some 105 million tons of American coal worth about $4 billion went to more than 30 countries, ranging from Canada to Europe to the Far East. This total marked the third highest amount of export coal in US history.
