WORTH NOTING ON TV

SUNDAY Focus on children's TV (PBS, 6:30-7:30 p.m.): An appreciative look at the winners of the 1989 Ollie Awards for children's television, hosted by Richard Thomas and with interviews and clips from ``Captain Kangaroo'' and ``Kukla, Fran, and Ollie.'' Great Performances (PBS, 9 p.m.-midnight): Shirley Verrett and Placido Domingo star in a sumptuous San Francisco Opera production of Meyerbeer's ``L`Africaine,'' about the explorer Vasco de Gama.

MONDAY A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court (NBC, 8-10 p.m., E.T.): In this version of the Mark Twain story - starring ``The Cosby Show's'' Keshia Knight Pulliam and ``Family Ties's'' Michael Gross - it's a contemporary girl who finds herself back in the days of Camelot.

Christmas in Washington (NBC, 10-11 p.m.): President and Mrs. Bush are expected to join other government figures at the eighth annual edition of the holiday music special, this year featuring flutist James Galway, the Naval Academy Glee Club, and several others.

`I Love Lucy' Christmas Show (CBS, 8:30-9 p.m.): A bit of classic '50s TV, with the late Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz, and other ``Lucy'' regulars in an episode not aired since 1956. The story includes flashbacks to even earlier Lucy shows of 1952 (that was 37 years ago, let's face it).
