WORTH NOTING ON TV

THURSDAY World Series (ABC, 8 p.m., E.T. to conclusion): If the series hasn't already been won (undetermined at press time), the Oakland Athletics play at the San Francisco Giants' Candlestick Park. SATURDAY World Series (ABC, 8 p.m., E.T. to conclusion): It's the Giants at the Athletics' Oakland Coliseum in Game Six (if necessary).

SUNDAY World Series (ABC, 8 p.m., E.T. to conclusion): Game 7 (if necessary): Giants at the Athletics' Oakland Coliseum Earthbeat (11-11:30 p.m.): It must be some kind of (hopeful) sign of the times when a weekly, solution-oriented show like this one devoted to the environment comes along (See preview coming in this section on Friday).

TUESDAY America's Century (PBS, 10-11 p.m.): Harper's-magazine editor Lewis Lapham is host to lots of talking heads - but interesting ones - as a new season of this thoughtful series opens with ``Coming of Age (1898-1941),'' first of a six-part look at what shaped America's role as a world power - especially the ideological tug-o'-war between pan-globalism and isolationism.

WEDNESDAY Live From Lincoln Center (PBS, 8-11:30 p.m.): Sergiu Comissiona conducts the New York City Opera in a production of Mozart's ``Don Giovanni'' staged by a gifted showman who is best known as a musical-comedy producer: Harold Prince.
