MITCHELL, FOLEY CALL FOR PAY-RAISE LEGISLATION

By

Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell (D) of Maine joined House Speaker Thomas Foley (D) of Washington June 20 in saying he hoped Congress this year would endorse pay raises for federal judges and senior executive-branch employees. Mitchell conceded, however, that this approach is not shared by a majority in Congress.
