Say it

The longer you don't say anything the harder it is to say it. It takes courage. Is it important? you ask yourself. Could it just as well sink back into silence? Could your breaking that lovely silence startle your companion out of all composure? Why tarnish golden silence? you ask yourself. It's so priceless, so shining so full of promise. These are questions not to be treated lightly. Yet, on the other hand the longer you don't say anything the easier it is to become self-bound, self-satisfied self-indulgent. You need, after all, to keep open to speech; not everything said is superfluous. There is that essential syllable that timeless word -- that immortal sentence. Go ahead. Say it.
