Morning storm

Portola Valley, California The Sierras are rising west of the coastal range, brilliant against a clear sky. Forever one would scale their sheer walls, free of the avalanche or the freezing night. Always the mountain would be new, the peak shifting. I stand in their sight, the sudden rain of dawn.
