Journey of stones

Each spring I loosen ground around the rose bush roots, discover new stones, round and smooth. Their edges worn by the crawl from the earth's heart, they lie soft in my palm. I add them to the garden cairn -- and imagine them rolling at night, silent in darkness back to the fragrance of roses.
