High-rise hotel rates

Why might a company planning a business meeting -- or a family planning a vacation -- pass up Manhattan for Boise or Sioux Falls? It could be the hotel rates, according to a report by Runzheimer International, a management consulting firm in Rochester, Wis.

As any firm's accounting office knows all too well, it costs a lot more money to put up a busy executive in New York, Chicago, Dallas, or San Francisco, among the most expensive hotel checkout counters in the country. The other ``top 10'' club members are Boston, Honolulu, Los Angeles, San Diego, Atlantic City, N.J., and Washington, D.C.
