``Outside it was the middle of summer, but inside the air was dark and cool, scented by merino wool and seed potatoes. Swallows built mud nests in the corners of the barn, and flew out through the spaces left around the doors. Twelve years ago I steadied my camera on a bale of wool, so today I have this reminder of a place for hide and seek.''
