Ferraro violated rule, House ethics panel says

The House Ethics Committee decided by an 8-to-2 vote that Rep. Geraldine Ferraro violated the Ethics in Government Act by failing to make full disclosure of her personal and family finances, a congressional source said Tuesday. The panel, however, is not recommending that the full House take any disciplinary action against her, the source said. At a closed meeting Monday, the committee reportedly also accepted its staff's finding that Ms. Ferraro was not entitled to her claim that the business dealings of her husband, real estate businessman John Zaccaro, were exempt from public view.

The committee chairman, Rep. Louis Stokes (D) of Ohio, said only that the panel would issue a report on the probe next week.
