Canadian GM workers back; US reopening expected soon

Canadian GM workers headed back to the job after a two-week strike, and more than 40,000 US employees laid off because of the walkout may be recalled by the end of the week, a GM spokesman said Tuesday. Workers at 13 Canadian plants voted 87.1 percent approval Monday for a new contract giving them an average raise of 50 cents an hour in the first year of a three-year agreement.
