Dalai Lama delegation going to Peking for talks

A three-member delegation representing the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, will leave New Delhi for Peking on Oct. 19, a spokesman said Thursday. The two- to three-week visit is aimed at continuing dialogue with the Chinese.

The Dalai Lamai has lived in self-exile in India since 1959, when he fled from Tibet after an uprising against Chinese rule. He has expressed a desire to visit Tibet next year.
