Correction

Correction for 9/21/84. The first line of an article on Page 12 of Friday's Monitor was inadvertently deleted. The first paragraph should have read: ''A recent book about South Africa by June Goodwin, a former correspondent in South Africa for The Christian Science Monitor, has been banned.''

The article also said that the women in the book were banned. In fact none of them are banned. It is not known why South African officials banned the book.

The Monitor regrets the error, which made it appear, wrongly, that the author rather than the book had been banned.
