Balzac

(By Rodin) At this angle his head is higher than the mountains

behind him

his shock of hair

against the clear blue sky -

immense

audacious.

Search for the eyes some feature

in the form:

everything is inaccessible.

Yet all together in this light

is he not breathing? - Or caught

at just the moment when

his chest drawn up and held

his whole body is one cloaked and massive

pointing -

a race of shimmering bits of silver

out of focus drawn together

soaring.
