Colorado files suit over MX missile deployment

The state of Colorado filed suit Friday to stop deployment of the MX missile, arguing that the project would affect the state's environment, even though the missiles are to be placed in the neighboring states of Wyoming and Nebraska.

The suit alleges that the Air Force failed to carry out sufficient studies and research to determine the precise impact the missile system would have on Colorado's environment and natural resources.

The suit, filed in United States District Court in Denver, names as defendants President Reagan, Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger, and Air Force Secretary Verne Orr.
