Lebanon seeks new talks; Druze leader not listening

The Lebanese government appealed Wednesday for new negotiations to end the bloodshed in Beirut while Druze militia leader Walid Jumblatt called the nation's stalled military disengagement plan a waste of time.

''A solution with the Phalangists is impossible,'' he added. ''The decisive battle is coming and there is no escape from that.''
