Iran rejects UN call for Gulf cease-fire

Iran has dissociated itself from the Security Council's call for a cease-fire in the Gulf war, declaring that it has no alternative but to continue the conflict with Iraq, a UN spokesman said Tuesday. Secretary General Javier Perez de Cuellar received Iran's response Monday.

The Oct. 31 cease-fire resolution was the fourth adopted by the council since the war erupted in 1980.
