Italy asks 4-nation meeting to break Lebanon impasse

Lebanese President Amin Gemayel Tuesday discussed with Italian leaders prospects for reconvening the Geneva talks on national reconciliation. Monday, Italian Prime Minister Bettino Craxi announced plans to seek a meeting of the US, France - Italy, and Britain, the four countries contributing to the Beirut peace force - to study ways of assisting the talks. Gemayel briefed Craxi on possibilities for reforming the Lebanese Constitution, a major bone of contention for the country's Muslims because it favors the Christians.
