Nation marks anniversary of Kennedy assassination

The white stone church where John F. Kennedy went the morning of his inauguration in 1960 served Tuesday as a centerpiece for the 20th anniversary of the President's assassination.

Most of the Kennedy family and many of the members of the Kennedy administration were among the 600 people attending a nationally broadcast memorial mass at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church.

President Reagan attended the service, which included a tribute delivered by Sen. Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts.

The Kennedy Library in Boston scheduled a celebration of his life. In Dallas, a service was to be held a few blocks from where Mr. Kennedy was shot on Nov. 22 , 1963. And in Washington, a free commemorative concert at the Kennedy Center was to feature conductor Mstislav Rostropovich and violinist Isaac Stern.
