At seeping canyon

Wild watercress traced a jade path narrowly down the desert mountainside.

The Water Spirit boulder smiled to guard that place, His Feathered Serpent image painted in ivory pictograph in a secret cave above.

We, too, smiled, watched a narrow path there, set guard on the moment, then left the canyon as empty of us as those who first trusted its exegesis.
