Lebanese agents say they foiled plot to kill leaders
Lebanese security agents uncovered a plot to assassinate Lebanese leaders and to set off car bombs in Beirut on the anniversary of Israel's June 6 invasion of Lebanon, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz said.Skip to next paragraph

Meanwhile, Israeli forces in south Lebanon have arrested over 100 people, mainly Lebanese, in the last 48 hours and set up a women's prison camp for 50 detainees, mainly Palestinian, the independent Beirut daily An-Nahar reported. An Israeli military spokesman outside Beirut confirmed that Israeli forces had made arrests.
