About 500 people have been detained in connection with a series of explosions that blacked out Lima, Peru, on Friday night, police officials said. Police blamed the Maoist Sendero Luminoso (Shining Path) guerrilla movement for the 40 bomb attacks which felled 10 electricity poles and destroyed the Bayer Chemical industrial plant.
