Thirteen hotel-casinos in Las Vegas escalated a gambling-industry labor dispute. They locked out 600 unionists, saying the members of Operating Engineers Local 501 and Teamsters Local 501 wouldn't be allowed to work until all labor issues were resolved. Contracts at 40 hotel-casinos expired April 1.
