In favor of short - vs. Wallace Stevens

All kinds of favors, the poet said, drop from the long poem. My small need is a bud, a quick pearl not for stringing, no noose tied round my breath, of brief weight, nearly nothing, easily lost, nacred bubble, gift embossed in a few lines, at most eight.
