France may supply Pakistani A-plant
| Islamabad, Pakistan
France said it was discussing the possible supply of a $1 billion nuclear power plant to Pakistan. Foreign Minister Claude Cheysson said France would not deny nuclear technology for peaceful purposes to a country that had not taken the stringent safeguards demanded by Washington at all of its nuclear installations. He said France realized its position differed from that of the US, but that every country had the right of access to modern technology.
