Steel company withdraws from union-contract talks

One of the country's biggest specialty steelmakers dropped out of top-level contract talks with the United Steelworkers Union. The union called the move by Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation a double cross the company would regret. But there was no immediate indication the pullout would be followed by other steel companies, nor is it likely to affect the talks, Monitor labor correspondent Ed Townsend reports.
