High court postpones an execution in Texas

The Supreme Court Monday postponed the execution of Texas Death Row inmate Thomas (Andy) Barefoot 11 hours before he was to be put to death. In a brief order, the justices agreed to stay his death sentence and give him more time to appeal his conviction for the August 1978 killing of a Harker Heights, Texas, policeman, Carl Levin.
