Finnish coalition collapses on defense-funding vote

The Finnish government collapsed Wednesday after a communist-dominated party in the ruling coalition voted against its three partners on a $49 million defense appropriation in the 1983 budget.

Prime Minister Kalevi Sorsa, a Social Democrat, said he would tender his resignation to President Mauno Koivisto today (Dec. 30).
