Massachusetts governor signs death-penalty bill

Gov. Edward J. King signed a death-penalty bill into law Wednesday. The lame-duck governor made good on a campaign promise to restore capital punishment in Massachusetts.

The last state-sanctioned execution was in 1947, and Massachusetts is the 38 th state to have a death-penalty law on the books.
