Nationwide survey shows brighter job picture

Projections of more than 11,200 employers polled in 347 US cities last month indicate a slight upswing is expected in hiring in January, February and March compared with 1982, a survey by Manpower Inc. showed.

While slightly fewer firms plan to hire additional workers in the next three months than last year at this time, the number expecting cutbacks has declined markedly.
