Premier Zhao Ziyang's four-week trip to 10 African nations beginning today (Dec. 20) represents China's highest level diplomatic courtship of Africa in nearly two decades. Mr. Zhao, anxious to regain Peking's stature in the third world, flies first to Cairo for a four-day visit to discuss Mideast peace proposals and Sino-Egyptian trade relations.
