Army doctor takes over after Upper Volta coup

The new rulers of the West African country of Upper Volta were identified 48 hours after a coup toppled the military government of Col. Save Zerbo. But there was still no word on the fate of Colonel Zerbo, a former paratrooper with the French, who himself took power in a bloodless military coup two years ago.

Maj. Jean-Baptiste Ouedraogo, a French-trained Army doctor was identified as the chairman of the provisional council that ousted the two-year-old Zerbo goverment.
