As part of Japan's Home Visit System, in a gesture to promote international goodwill, 23 families of Narita (near the Tokyo International Airport) have volunteered to open their homes to visits by foreign travelers. Air travelers with several hours between flights of layover at one of the airport hotels can arrange to visit with a family in their home on an informal basis. At least one member of each family speaks a foreign language.

The following offices should be contacted to arrange for a visit with a Narita family: Narita City Tourist Information Office, 839 Hanasaki-cho, Narita City, Chiba Prefecture, phone (0476) 24-3198, and Tokyo International Airport Office, Japan National Tourist Organization, Airport Terminal Building, Narita, Chiba Prefecture, phone (0476) 32-8711.
