The final piece in the Bendix-Martin Marietta jigsaw puzzle fell into place Monday when United Technologies withdrew its bid for Bendix, which Friday agreed to merge with Allied Corporation.
United Technologies, which sided with Martin Marietta on Sept. 7 in an alliance of aerospace companies to foil Bendix's plans to gain control of Marietta, had offered $75 a share for Bendix.
