Westmoreland sues CBS over TV documentary

Retired Army Gen. William Westmoreland, one-time US commander in Vietman, filed a $120 million libel suit Monday against CBS Inc. over a TV documentary he says falsely depicted him as part of a conspiracy to falsify enemy troop strengths.
The general said he decided upon suing with great reluctance and conscious of the long and bitter legal battle that will follow nine months of protests to CBS , which he said refused to retract the program's conclusions. General Westmoreland said he would donate to charity any awards from the suit.
