European officials meet to mesh pipeline policy

British, French, West German, and Italian officials meet today (Sept. 3) to discuss a common policy on President Reagan's sanctions against companies selling pipeline equipment to the Soviets, the Foreign Office said.

Plans for the talks in Britain were announced after US trade representative William Brock conferred with British trade and Foreign Office officials. ''We have such enormous respect for Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and the people of this country that it is painful to have disagreed over this issue,'' Mr. Brock said as he left.
