Are you ready for a nightly one-hour "MacNeil-Lehrer Report" on PB

PBS president Larry Grossman is backing a WNET, New York, and WETA, Washington, plan to expand the current half-hour show to an hour, covering two or three subjects each evening, and adding at least one more anchor to the present three (MacNeil, Lehrer, and Charlayne Hunter-Galt). Current average nightly viewership is estimated to be around 4 million, and the show is carried on just about all 270 public television stations. Whether or not all of them will take a full hour remains to be seen.
