CBS Evening News with Dan Rather, Bill Moyers, and Charles Kuralt keeps rolling along in Number One spot as it has for the past three months. ABC World News Tonight has a solid hold a second place. Meantime, back in third position, the NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw and Roger Mudd lumbers along sluggishly.

In the morning sweepstakes, ABC's Good Morning America tightens its grip on the top morning spot, with NBC's Today a poor second. The major change is that the CBS Morning news show with Bill Kurtis and Diane Sawyer is finally showing signs of being upwardly mobile, and has moved to within catch-up distance of Today.
