T-shirt training fleeced taxpayers, senator says

Sen. William Proxmire (D) of Wisconsin gave his Golden Fleece award for June to the Commerce and Labor Departments for spending more than $700,000 on a nonprofit corporation that was supposed to teach minority youths how to make T-shirts.

He said no T-shirts were produced for sale, nor did any minority youths find jobs, but the taxpayer lost his shirt.
