Torrential rains hit Connecticut hard

Sunday was the wettest day on record in the Housatonic and Naugatuck River basins, where over 8 inches of rain fell in a 24-hour period, the biggest nontropical storm or hurricane rainfall since 1904, the National Weather Service said. More than 1,300 residents were forced from their homes.
