US to sell spare parts to Guatemala, ending ban

The Reagan administration decided to restore arms sales to Guatemala, ending a four-year ban, the New York Times reported. The planned approval of the sale of $4 million in spare parts for American-made helicopters was a gesture to the new government of Gen. Efrain Rios Montt, under whose regime human rights conditions have improved, administration officials said.
