Europe, which had been practically flattened at the end of World War II, has grown into a prosperous area that is constantly the focus of world attention.

Here are some questions to test how well you know this important continent. (Remember it includes East and West Europe.)

1. The leaders of the three most powerful nations in Western Europe today are Helmut Schmidt, Francois Mitterrand, and Margaret Thatcher. What countries do they represent and what are their correct titles?
