Peking — Chinese Foreign Minister Huang Hua expressed confidence that Sino-American friendship was growing despite political differences between the two countries.
Mr. Huang addressed a meeting commemorating American writer Edgar Snow, one of the first journalists to chronicle the rise of Chinese communism, and author of the classic ''Red Star Over China.'' The foreign minister did not specifically mention tension resulting from US plans to sell more fighter aircraft to Taiwan.
''Sometimes relations between states may be overcast and the road ahead may be rugged. But the friendship between the peoples is everlasting,'' he said.
