Ford chief says company won't be another Chrysler

Ford Motor Company will not be another Chrysler, Ford president Donald Peterson says. He threw off speculation that Ford will follow Chrysler's example of asking for federal loan guarantees. He went even further by saying his company has no plans to borrow money at all in 1982, despite predictions of a $1 billion debt for the No. 2 automaker by the end of the year.
